June 2020 E-News

Since we last spoke, we have been gorging on homemade sourdough and working on a blueprint for what an arts festival can and should be in 2020. We’ve been crossing our fingers and toes, hoping that we could find a way to share some good news with you. Well, here it is:

We are extremely excited to confirm that Bondi Festival will be taking place in 2020.

Bondi Festival 2020 will run 26 September – 10 October. That’s right. Whilst we will not be offering our usual schedule of events in July, we will be programming a reimagined spring festival designed to inject a little bit of joy back into all of our lives.

As I’m sure you can imagine, this year’s festival will be very different to what we had originally planned. Venues are different, dates are different and, let’s face it, the world is different.

Our spring festival welcomes back our Bondi Vista Ferris Wheel and introduces the Bondi Roller Rink (Oh yes!). As always, we will continue to showcase an incredible arts program (artist submissions are now open!) and look forward to sharing our full festival program with you on Wednesday 26 August.

We will of course be monitoring the Australian Government’s directives around social gatherings and community safety in response to COVID-19. Should the spring festival be deemed a safety risk for our audiences or artists at any time we will necessarily cancel the event.

But, right now as we write this, the post-it notes we have stuck to our respective laptops read, “let the good times roll”. And that’s exactly what we’ll be doing this spring.

Much love,
Team Bondi Festival
