Groundswell is local Bondi singer, guitarist Jamie Mackay. It’s a set of feel-good acoustic songs from Sam Smith and Van Morrison to Neil Finn and Tracy Chapman, guaranteed to have young and old singing along. Throw in a bit of harmonica and a looping pedal and you’ve got Bondi’s answer to Ed Sheeran.

I am extremely excited to perform at this year’s Bondi Festival.
I have lived in and around Bondi for over 20 years, I’m a keen surfer and my amazing wife Skye and our three kids share a love for Bondi, the ocean and music.
From an early age I’ve been fascinated by singer songwriters and the story telling power of acoustic music combined with human voice.
My heroes include Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Jack Johnson, Neil Finn and Paul Kelly.
There’s a resurgence in this style of music with young artists like Angus and Julia Stone, Sons of East, Vance Joy Zac Ryan.
I love the unplugged, handmade simplicity and raw performance of acoustic guitars and harmonica, it’s a sweet and organic reprise in a world where auto tune, Garage Band and AI seem to increasingly steal the essence and spontaneity of music and song.
I hope to see you at the food stalls on Saturday July 5th, look out for the ageing surfy with a smile and six string.
