“This local poetry collective has put together a powerful and poignant night of poetry, music and dance around what it is to be ‘woman’. It’s also been made into a book, so this is an excellent opportunity to hear the poets perform their own works.” – Rachel Chant, Festival Director

Kae Tempest meets Vagina Monologues meets Audre Lorde meets Martha Graham on Alphabet Street – this alliterative night of spoken word resonates and ricochets from the hearts of 26 poets.

The Alphabet of Women is an evolving creative beast, a moving feast, a symphony of words released. These are the stories of ‘woman’ by women, told alphabetically and accompanied by dance and music.

From rage to tenderness, politics to the body, motherhood to daughterhood to sisterhood to vaginas, this is a night of poetry and performance you won’t want to miss.

“Powerful to see such diverse expressions of womanhood that were unified in their strength and heart. Loved every bit of it.” Justine Hofman

“A must see show. A kaleidoscope of female talent covering soaring melodies, expressive readings and saucy ditties… Highly recommended.” Maree Lipschitz
