“Tash York is a superstar. Late-night Queen of the fringe scene, she’s won every cabaret award you can think of. We’re thrilled she will be bringing her latest award-winning show, Tash York’s Happy Hour, to the Festival for its Sydney premiere, accompanied by her fave Melbourne drag queens, the Red Red Wines.” – Rachel Chant, Festival Director
The Trash Queen of Cabaret, Tash York, is back at Bondi Festival, and determined to find out what makes us happy. Is it finishing that 3rd bottle of wine? Staying up until 3am because you don’t want the night to end? Buying yet another cat? (She does have three already.)
After two years lost to the global panini, Tash York’s Happy Hour is set to thrill you more than a half-price wine list. Tash unapologetically drinks a pool of wine, practices self-care, slays her insecurities, and makes the effort to ensure everyone leaves their troubles at the door. Backed by her boozy music makers and backing singers The Red Red Wines (Peppy Smears & Vivian Fonteyn), expect powerful three-part harmonies, hilarious true stories, improvised numbers and of course Australia’s favourite game – Goon of Fortune! Don’t let the makeup, wigs and costumes fool you – Tash York is as bogan as they come.
Celebrated with countless awards and glowing reviews, Tash York’s Happy Hour combines Drag and Cabaret in a way unlike any other – think Meow Meow meets Bianca Del Rio but on a budget! Your Hostess with the Mostess (wine), Tash York is a multi-award winning cabaret artist who has been touring the world with her hit solo shows and is also celebrated Emcee of The After Hours Cabaret Club, The Australian Burlesque Festival and Briefs: Sweatshop.
“Tash York is the queen of Australian cabaret comedy… there seems nothing this diva can’t do. She’s a comedy queen, singing sensation, and busty babe all rolled into one big bundle of fun.” – ★★★★★ Glam Adelaide
“With all three performers uniquely talented in their own right, the combination of the trio on a single stage is exactly what Fringe is about – eclectic, chaotic, and entirely too much – in the best possible way.” – ★★★★½ OUTin Perth
“It’s easy to fall in love with the obvious glee with which big-wigged/hearted cabaret host Tash York returns to the Fringe stage after two years lost to the pandemic…real showbiz skill!” – ★★★★ The Age
