In 2014, Nina Oyama moved from the city to start a fresh new life in the countryside – you know, like all good retirees do. Except she was 20, and instead of settling down, Nina got heaps of speeding fines, lost her driver’s licence four times and owed thousands of dollars to the government. She also became a black-market taxi driver, delivered a cargo of drugs across the state, and fell in love.

Nina Oyama Needs a Lift is a debut stand-up and wild autobiographical journey about trying to live life in the fast lane when you’re still on your P-plates.

Nina Oyama was handpicked to be part of Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Comedy Zone 2015, was an ABC Freshblood Comedy Finalist in 2017, and appeared on Just For Laughs at the Sydney Opera House in 2018.

As seen on ABC’s Logie Award winning show Utopia and as a reporter on Tonightly with Tom Ballard. Most recently, she co-created and starred in The Angus Project.

“A warm presence that means you still like her even when you’re shaking your head at her sheer stupidity…hugely impressive” Time Out
