“Which came first, the music or the misery? Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?”
– Nick Hornby, High Fidelity

Have you ever put on an Adele song on a rainy day and stared out the window crying?

We all want happier lives, so what is it about sad songs that keeps us turning up the stereo to rub salt in our wounds? This Bondi Feast, join Shannen Sarstedt in her cabaret debut as she pays homage to the greatest ugly-crying anthems of all time. Charting from Joni Mitchell to Joy Division and everywhere in between, Misery Loves Cabaret explores our cultural obsession with melancholy and celebrates the theatricality and melodrama of sad songs. With musical accompaniment by the devastatingly talented Conrad Hamill on cello and piano, this show is set to be the ultimate feel-bad experience, guaranteed to make you cry until you laugh.

“Shannen Sarstedt leaves a strong impression… able to convey depths of emotion as well as unexpected dimension”– Suzy Goes See
