What is Bondi Festival?
Bondi Festival (previously Bondi Winter Magic and Bondi Feast) is a winter arts festival and an all-ages adventure zone that erupts into life every July at the world’s most famous beach. At least, that was the plan. Bondi Festival 2020 is a reimagined and rescheduled version of our planned festival, designed to reboot Bondi from 3-10 October 2020.
Our festival is a nine-day cutting edge arts festival that aims to offer the people of Sydney some feel-good cultural experiences after a long hard winter, whilst attracting visitation to Bondi and showcasing local businesses through a number of possible program stands.
This much-loved arts festival is presented by Waverley Council in partnership with Bondi and Districts Chamber of Commerce.
What is this EOI for?
To register your expression of interest to partner with Waverley Council and Bondi & Districts Chamber of Commerce to collaborate on the newly proposed Bondi Festival in October 2020.
We are looking for local businesses who are keen to be involved in a number of ways, including:
- Adopting Bondi Festival themed shopfront dressing/visual merchandising
Splashing your shopfront and/or digital mediums with Bondi Festival designs and activations across the festival dates.
- As a venue for live performance
Acting as a venue for arts programming e.g. theatre, cabaret, circus. This includes programming for families and adults. The Festival team will partner your venue with show/s.
- As a venue for a visual artwork
Acting as a venue for non-performative arts programming e.g. projections, sculptures, visual art exhibitions. The Festival team will partner your venue with selected artwork/s.
- As a participating venue in our Food Safari
A culinary walking tour, in which a participating venue would be one of up to 5 stops, providing a dish along the way.
- Bondi Festival: Bytes
Our digital arts festival in July 2020, through which we would partner you with an artist who would make a 1-2 minute performance inspired by your business to be shared via social media.
- Offering Discounts or Specials for Bondi Festival patrons
e.g. 25% off yoga mats, 2-4-1 deals across the festival dates
Most importantly, we want to hear your creative ideas about how Bondi Festival can help to reboot Bondi and its local businesses this spring.

NB: We expect this will be a very rewarding experience. It will also be a busy and perhaps a challenging experience, with the potential to both interrupt your usual business or indeed enhance it.

Please note: This EOI is an opportunity for us to start a conversation and does not necessarily mean that projects will able to take place. You may fill out this form, and upon further conversation realise you are unable to take part this year. Further, it may not be possible for us to partner with all interested businesses in 2020. There is also the chance that we will not be able to proceed with this year’s festival due to health and safety restrictions. The important thing is, this is the beginning of a conversation!

Venue Selection Criteria
Suitability to the festival format – location, technical capabilities, brand alignment, etc.
Feasibility – is it achievable and within our capabilities/restrictions?
Accessibility – location and accessibility requirements including possible social distancing requirements
Originality – the uniqueness of the venue, their stories, the stimulus they provide artists
Innovation – in the way they operate as a venue and in the stimulus they provide artists
Courage – to embrace the festival format
